Fire Alarm Handover

Once your fire alarm system is installed and commissioned, handover is what confirms it’s genuinely ready to use and that you have the paperwork to prove it. Working with Bolt, means nothing is missed, from as-fitted drawings to staff training.

COMPLETE, COMPLIANT HANDOVER FOR EVERY SYSTEM

Fire Alarm System Handover

Once your system has been tested and commissioned, handover is where it’s formally signed over to you. That means the paperwork that proves it’s compliant and the knowledge your team needs to run it day to day.

We compile your as-fitted drawings and certification, check your fire alarm zone plan against the finished system, and train your team on weekly testing and what to do if the alarm sounds.

YOUR PROOF OF COMPLIANCE

The Fire Alarm Handover Certificate

The handover certificate is the document that confirms your fire alarm system has been installed, commissioned and handed over in line with BS 5839 requirements. It’s one of the pieces of paperwork a fire risk assessor, insurer or building control inspector will expect to see if they ask for evidence that the system is compliant.

We issue this alongside the rest of your fire alarm handover pack, so you’ve got a single, clear record that the job’s been done properly.

YOUR HANDOVER PACK

What's Included

Every handover we complete includes:

  • As-fitted drawings, showing the final positions of devices, cables and routes.
  • Design, installation and commissioning certificates.
  • The fire alarm handover certificate.
  • Your updated zone plan, checked against the finished system.
  • The system logbook and user guide.
  • The cause-and-effect matrix, where any cause-and-effect programming has been carried out.
  • Hands-on training for your team on weekly testing and alarm procedures.

Anything that differs from the standard design, is recorded and explained to you at this stage too.

Why Choose Bolt?

With over 300 sites worked on, we know a handover is only as good as the checks behind it. That’s why every drawing, certificate and record is verified against the finished system before we leave site, and your team is trained on the spot, not left to work it out later.

Your handover also ties into the rest of your compliance picture, alongside your zone plan, commissioning and ongoing maintenance, so nothing falls through the gaps once the job’s done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Need Answers Before You Get Started?

What's the difference between commissioning and handover?

Commissioning is where we test the system, confirming every device works and the programming performs as intended. Handover comes after that, it’s where the documentation, certification and training are completed and formally signed over to you.

Who should keep the handover pack once it's issued?

The Responsible Person for the building, usually whoever holds overall responsibility for fire safety, should keep the handover pack somewhere accessible. It’s the record you’ll need to produce for a fire risk assessment, insurance review or inspection.

Does Bolt also handle maintenance once handover is complete?

Yes. Once your system is handed over, it needs regular servicing to stay compliant. Our fire alarm maintenance service picks up from where handover leaves off.
